Welcome back to Top 5 Wednesday. This is a meme started in November of 2013 and is still going strong! If you’re interested in being a part of it please see the group on Goodreads.
This week’s topic is Characters on the Naughty List.
I’m taking this to mean characters I really don’t like, and not just characters I love to hate. These are the ones who get coal in their stocking.
This is going to be a quick on, I left it too late in the day!!
Romeo & Juliet
Star crossed lovers. *yawn* I’ve never been able to get into this story. They know NOTHING about one another. That’s not love, that’s early teen hormonal angst. I feel a little less anti-Juliet than anti-Romeo but I have trouble feeling too sorry for either of them.
Charmaine – The Heart Goes Last
Don’t get me wrong. You know I LOVE me some Margaret Atwood, but once again, I had trouble feeling for this character. A difficult person to like. Capricious and to my mind a little pathological.
Lia – The Kiss of Deception
I know a lot of people liked this book. I’m sorry to poop on it, but I really hated this “strong girl” character. She was supposed to be extremely capable and intelligent. Not only did she get caught within days of her escape from the castle, but she was caught by no less than two princes and a castle spy. For gods sake. She’s really not that bright. Couldn’t finish the book, it just drove me nuts.
Lydia Bennet – Pride and Prejudice
Oh Jesus, Mary and Joseph, this chick! Just an incurious, spiteful, boy-crazy, shallow little flibbertygibbet! I don’t wish ill on her, and no one deserves to get tied to Willoughby for life, but she sure makes it hard to root for her.
… she is kind of funny though and oh heck, never mind, I love all the Bennet’s.
Robert E. Lee “Bob” Ewell – To Kill A Mockingbird
There is no redeeming this awful person. He is a foul, racist, ignorant abuser and attempted murderer. He gets all the coal in the world. It doesn’t get worse than Bob.
Ok gotta run now! See you all later!
