Top 5 Wednesday – Fave Non-Canon Ships

Welcome back to Top 5 Wednesday.  This is a meme started in November of 2013 and is still going strong! If you’re interested in being a part of it please see the group on Goodreads.

This week’s topic is Favorite Non-Canon Ships. By ships we mean couples we wish would get together. By non-canon we mean maybe they didn’t actually get together in the book, but you wish they did or would in future.

Fitz + The Fool

This is definitely non-canon. For one thing, they are both … men? Ugh, this is so hard to do without spoilers.  Let’s just say that this is completely feasible because…

  1. The Fool’s questionable gender
  2. The Fool’s other than human genetic makeup
  3. The incredible love they have for one another. It transcends romantic love, friendly love, familial love. They are m-f-e-o in the most real sense.

Jasnah + Kaladin

I know it seems like Kaladin and Shallan are slowly orbiting each other with intent, but I think Shallan needs to stay with her current guy.  I think Jasnah is a real tough cookie, and independent. She is a better match for Kaladin once he grows up a little. I foresee fireworks!

Elias + Helene

Regardless of how drawn he is to Laia, he has a deep connection with Helene.  She has been his friend and ally forever, and obviously loves him deeply. I think if he can stop running long enough to take stock of how he feels he might see that he cares for her that way too.

Miles + Elinor

It’s pretty much a foregone conclusion, but it was fun shipping it while the book lasted. It’s a done deal.

My ultimate ship … ship to end all ships … Jamie + Brienne

They belooooooong together.  They must be together.  They make each other better. Please George, please don’t kill them. Let them sit on the Iron Throne. I’m begging here …. he’s not listening is he. Dang it!

Honorable mention

My second favorite ship is a t.v. only relationship. It’s short-lived but oh so good!

Brienne + Tormund

Don’t worry Tormund, she’ll come around.

    1. My first recommendation will always be Brandon Sanderson when he’s part of a group. He’s a wonderful author and the Stormlight Archive (of which this book is the first part of) is already considered his masterpiece.

      1. I completely agree. I made the mistake of starting The Wheel of Time when Jordon has just published book 9. The problem is I can’t keep all that stuff in my brain! Hopefully, I’ll be better at separating out stories and worlds if I read all of Sanderson’s works. The Way of Kings is on reserve at the library!
