Book Traveling Thursday – Make me smile!

Book Traveling Thursdays is a meme I just found on Goodreads. Every week, they post a new subject and you choose a book that fits the theme.  Then share covers for that book according to the following rules…

  1. Original cover
  2. Cover from your country
  3. Your favorite cover
  4. Your least favorite cover

It looks like a ton of fun!  So let’s start now.

This week’s theme: Choose a book that made you smile recently.

I chose Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.  I’m sure none of you are surprised by this pick. It’s a very, very funny book.  It’s about Armageddon and the End of the World. Yeah, laugh-a-minute right!  It’s very tongue-in-cheek. Here are a couple of quotes…

The Kraken stirs. And ten billion sushi dinners cry out for vengeance.

“You’re Hell’s Angels, then? What chapter are you from?’                                            ‘REVELATIONS CHAPTER 6.’

“25 And the Lord spake unto the Angel that guarded the eastern gate, saying ‘Where is the flaming sword that was given unto thee?’
26 And the Angel said, ‘I had it here only a moment ago, I must have put it down some where, forget my own head next.’
27 And the Lord did not ask him again.”

And now on to the covers…

Original cover

USA Cover

Favorite cover: UK Edition

Least Favorite: French Edition

The favorite cover reminds me of those opening animations from Masterpiece Theater: Mystery that used to play when I was a kid! I loved those. The French cover looks like someone pirated some crazy movie stills and slapped it together using MS Paint. Really messed up! This book deserved better!

In closing, here is a video of the old Masterpiece animations.  So spooky! 😀
