Top 5 Wednesday – All in the Family

Welcome back to Top 5 Wednesday.  This is a meme started in November of 2013 and is still going strong! If you’re interested in being a part of it please see the group on Goodreads.

This week’s topic is Characters You’d Want As Family. I have some real winners here!

nighteyes

Nighteyes Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb

Man’s very best friend.  He is a wolf cub who is adopted (and adopts in turn) a young boy without any family.  They become one another’s family and I wish he were in mine. WE ARE PACK!!

jarndyce

John JarndyceBleak House by Charles Dickens

You couldn’t ask for a more loyal friend that Mr. Jarndyce. Unfailingly kind and considerate, all he wants is to try and make life easier for the poor young people he knows that are caught in the horrors of the Court of Chancery. He’d make a wonderful uncle!

sunday

Isabel DalhousieThe Sunday Philosophy Club by Alexander McCall Smith

Mr. Smith writes such wonderful characters it’s hard to pick just one for your family, but I’d definitely choose Isabel.  She is the perfect person to just hang out with.  Very laid back, but astonishingly intelligent. She’d make a good “hey let’s meet up for lunch” cousin.

mitford

Father Tim Cavanaugh At Home in Mitford by Jan Karon

If you couldn’t tell yet, I’m a real homebody.  I like calm, kind people and you find them in abundance in Mitford.  It’s a perfect, lovely town and Father Tim is just the best.  He’s loving, mild, wears his heart on his sleeve but is really ruled by this faith and trust in people.  He’s a great guy! He’d be a good uncle too!

elinor.jpg

Elinor DashwoodSense and Sensibility by Jane Austen

This here is my sister from another mister.  First child syndrome? I can relate to her so well.  I know we’d get along great!

Well that’s it, but I do have a few honorable mentions…

The Weasleys – Harry Potter

Marmee – Little Women

The Finches – To Kill a Mockingbird

Till next week guys!
